short blog. lame name.

Share it Please
Im going to start off apologizing for the shortness of this blog. It is for the lack of time, I actually have in front of a computer screen. We are becoming really settled here in the Thyolo district of Malawi. We move out of the missionary’s house and in to our house this weekend. Everyone in the community is really welcoming, and we have a couple invitations for tea for this weekend. We are getting use to the electricity go out at any moment and staying out for hours at a time (its this load-sharing thing, so there will be enough electricity). Also, we are learning to save and store water, because also at any moment, we can run out of water. I know a lot of that sounds like I may have it rough, but its really not bad at all. I am learning to cook all my meals for the first time in my life (there is nothing that is considered conveinant and/or fast food). I have grown an appreciated for phones and emails, because when we plan to go into schools with the TAYO group we must hand deliver a letter to the school. Some walks take as long as 30 minutes, just to deliver a letter. It teaches you the appreciation of technology, the importance of relationships, and the opportunity to prayerwalk.
The relationships with the members that we will begin to disciple in the TAYO organization are going really well. The barrier of the thick accent of the nationals is broken and communication is becoming way easier. They even decided to braid our hair today. However, we have already taken them out. 1) they hurt really bad 2) they looked ridiculous. We also had the opportunity to help some students work on English today. It wasn’t planned, it just happens. They arrive at where they think we will be and ask for the azungoo (white people) and ask us to help them with their english, and of course we jump at the chance. Azungoo is another word that I have become quite familiar with, it’s a phrase we hear probably 20 times a day, sometimes in whispers, other time at a 200 feet away from a students jumping up and down. Its really exciting to be able to talk to people who are willing and adamant to hear what you have to say. On the other hand, it is also a little awkward to know that everyone is always watching you.
Oh, and the Mozambique trip will not be taken anymore, for the lack of transportation. The train we were going to take only goes once every two weeks, making for a very very long hike, so the missionary husband will be taking it alone. Pray for him, and pray for us while we continue to minister here.
Well sorry its short. Soon, soon, hopefully there will be lengthy one. I’ll finish it off with some prayer requests.
- That relationships that we are continuing to develop.
- Bible studies that we will begin soon.
- The lost here in Malawi.
- Discipleship.
- Team unity. Will just continue to walk in the Spirit.
